NORTHERN FARM IS LIMITING BOOKINGS IN ACCORDANCE WITH COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS. BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL.
Tickets can either be purchased on line at webtickets or can be purchased at the farm. The ticket office has moved to the main gate of the farm from 06:00 to 15:00 on weekends and public holidays.
Northern Farm Nature Reserve (also known as the Diepsloot Nature Reserve) is one of Johannesburg's best-kept secrets and offers over 2500ha of beautiful green grasslands and woodlands to explore.
There are several dams in the reserve as well as 270 different bird species (incl. a breeding pair of fish eagles).
Many different recreational users i.e. cyclists, horse riders, hikers and birders enjoy relaxing in the open space and clean air of the farm.
It's a great family outing and offers safe and secure parking at the clubhouse, where toilet, shower and braai facilities are available.
To protect your safety and the safety of other visitors, we will be limiting our numbers at the gates.
Visitors will need to book online prior to their visit, bookings open every Wednesday at 12 noon. Please take note, the slots are limited and you may not swap slots once booked. You will only be able to check in 30 minutes prior to your slot. If you are found trying to check in to a different slot, we will unfortunately turn you away.
Northern Farm will not be taking any risks and any persons seen to jeopardize the protocols put in place for your protection may result in prosecution.
Finish off your day in the best way with our new sunset sessions, starting from this Saturday the 29th of August at 16:30. This will only happen once a month.
Booking is essential as our numbers are capped, here is a little more info for you:-
- Where do I book?
Bookings open on the website at 10:00am on Wednesday the 26th of August 2020. Bookings are limited in line with Covid-19 best practice.
- How much is it?
Normal prices apply, it is R60 per person. Because this is outside normal operational hours, season passes or multi-passes unfortunately do not apply.
- Do you need lights?
Yes, yes and most certainly yes. We recommend at least 600lm of light on the bike and a good headlight.
- What routes can you ride?
We are opening up a 35km and a 20km. This will be on GPS on the website this Friday. We will also put reflective markings out. The routes will differ from the daytime routes you ordinarily use. We keep you on those routes so that we can sweep the trail behind the last rider. If you want to add in a few extra km's before the sun drops, you are welcome to, but when it gets dark we need you to stick to the trails we mark out. It is very easy to get disorientated out there at night.
See you out there...

Once you have made a purchase, your name will placed on a list at the gate. Please do not worry about printing anything out.

NO ORGANISED GROUP RIDES:-
The farm is open for training for races that you have coming up in the future. We can unfortunately not allow for any organised group rides. Please practice social distancing best practice while you are out there.
