What is it all about?
Every year Northern Farm & it's neighbors get together to bring you a beautiful MTB race through the farm & the neighboring reserves. The race features distances & trails suitable to all levels of riders.
2020 features a fresh new route that will test the endurance, resolve and skill with staggering beauty throughout.
We welcome on our new organising partners who have taken the lead from NFUG in 2019 to make this event possible in 2020.

About the route
This years Jackal Dash will Start & Finish at Northern Farm Mtb Park
20km Mtb
The 20km Mtb will happen within the trails at Northern Farm, this is a great introduction to Mtb racing with a fair combination of district roads & single track. There is nothing technical about this route. Total ascent +- 150m
Entry fee R180
Fee includes single access pass to the farm to use at a later date valued at R50 + complimentary post event bike wash. The 1st 100 registrants will each receive an event T-Shirt. All finishers will receive a commemorative medal upon completion.

40km Mtb
This is probably the most popular of all the categories & sells out well before the race & for a good reason.
This is the perfect blend of Northern Farm trails and it's neighboring reserves. We avoid the extreme friendship testing hilly stuff & take you just far enough to enjoy the beauty of the Rhenosterspruit reserve. Whilst inside the farm, we take you to the action of our most loved trails without you having to be a technical wizard behind the bars. Total ascent +- 530m
Entry fee R240
*Entry fee includes single access pass to the farm to use at a later date valued at R50 + complimentary post event bike wash. The 1st 100 registrants will each receive an event T-Shirt.
All finishers will receive a commemorative medal upon completion.
60km Mtb
We call this distance the "Cake Tin" for a reason, we get to see who trained over the festive period & who got stuck into the cake tin. This is a great test of your endurance resolve & skill, but 2020 will be faster as we have reversed the loop to make it easier & more flowing.
This route takes you into the heart of the Rhenosterspruit Reserve, you will not believe that you are so close to Joburg when you make your way through the testing single trails back to the farm. Inside the farm we have laid out a combination of our most enjoyable trail for you, but as with any single track work still needs to be done to get you home... Total ascent 760m
Entry fee R280
*Entry fee includes single access pass to the farm to use at a later date valued at R50 + complimentary post event bike wash. The 1st 100 registrants will each receive an event T-Shirt. All finishers will receive a commemorative medal upon completion.
e-bike 40km Mtb
There is no arguing that e-bikes have their space in mtb races, so we have provided a completely stand alone category for e-bike riders.
The e-bike 40km will follow the same route as the race 40km, the only difference is that this category will go off in a batch of their own.
Entry fee R240
*Entry fee includes single access pass to the farm to use at a later date valued at R50 + complimentary post event bike wash. The 1st 100 registrants will each receive an event T-Shirt. All finishers will receive a commemorative medal upon completion.

1. Welcome and thank you.
On behalf of Northern Farm we would like to thank you for joining us at the Jackal Dash 2020, MTB at the farm is entirely volunteer run. So to have this much support is very special to us. This is the only race that features the stunning Crocodile river reserve, it is hard to find it in a better condition than it is right now. Best of luck for the race, be friendly to other riders, marshals and residents.

2. Number board collection
You will be able to collect your number board from one of 2 places, Mellow Velo Cycles in Broadaces on Friday the 31st of January between 12:30 and 18:00. A friend, family member or colleague can collect on your behalf. If you were in the 1st 200 registrants, your shirt and glass will be there waiting for you.
You will also be able to collect your number board on race day at the farm, please plan to arrive 45 minutes prior to your start time as this does get very busy, we do suggest collecting the day before. Gates to the farm will open at 06:00.

3. Batches and start times
You have entered the listed above
Your batch is listed above
Your start time is listed above
f you need to change this, you can only do so at Mellow Velo on Friday between 12:30 and 18:00. You will need to show us your SAS seeding when you do so. Please note, we do not handle seedings, seeding is done with your SAS results.

4. Substitutions
Substitutions can only be done at Mellow Velo Cycles on Friday the 31st of January, between 12:30 and 18:00. A consenting email will need to be provided from the person you are replacing in order to do substitutions. It is illegal to ride under an alias of another person, in the case of emergency we would not be able to assist you if you have not substituted correctly.

5. Routes, markings and gpx. files
The entire route is well marked by white boards with red arrows on them. If you are in the 60km or 40km we do advise that you download the GPX. file from the website www.northernfarm.org.za/jackal-dash click on race info and scroll to routes. It is the riders responsibility to stay on route and follow the directional arrows. There are water points on route, but please make sure you carry enough hydration to cover the distance (at least 2 bottles for 40km and over), it gets very hot out there and water points are supplementary.

6. How to get there, avoid the stop and go
The R114 is under construction with stop and go's that can cost you 20 minutes on your travel time. The best way to get to the farm is via the N14, then take the Bambani Mall off ramp. There is a map available on the website www.northernfarm.org.za

7. Results
Results are provided by Finish Time, they will be live on their site and sms'd to you on completion of you ride. They will be loaded the farm website later in the day.

8. Event photography
We push our photographers hard to get the edited images back quickly. Please give us until Tuesday the 4th of February 2020 to send you an email with the link to the images. Try remember your board number as that is how you will be identified in the images.

9. At the farm on the day
There is plenty on the go at the farm on the day. Your bike wash is included and you can grab a breakfast, coffee and cold Copperlake beer or gin after your ride.

Be safe out there, hydrate and keep the rubber side down.
